Halloween is easily one of my favorite holidays.  I think it’s because I get to be extra crafty and creative.  I am always attempting something that I haven’t tried before because its Halloween … and really – no one is going to care if something isn’t sewn just right.

Well – This year I decided I was going to make Martha Stewart’s Ghost Costume.  She shows you how to make it and she also sells it.  Her version can be seen here:

I knew I could make it for less – so I decided to go for it.  After many math calculations – I determined I needed about 24 yards of tulle at 108 wide.  This would give me the length from head to toe as well as the fullness I needed for the cape around me.

For under the cape – I made a quick strapless white dress from some sale fabric I found.  After much struggle with my sewing machine, I finally finished the dress.  Yes – its a little tight and it has a blue zipper, but it worked!  No one could see the zipper or notice it was slightly tight.

Plus – I scared a few co-worker with the addition of my make-up.  Success!

Happy Scaring!

The Start of a Wedding Quilt

October 17, 2010

Just over a year ago, our older sister got married.  As a creative way to collect guests names – we set up a guest book table with pieces of fabric rather than a book.  Guests were able to sign their name and a little message if they wanted.

Later – these pieces will come together as a wedding quilt for my sister and her husband to forever enjoy.

Guest Book Table

I am known for my procrastination and need for a deadline to complete many of my sewing projects.  I told myself their 1 year anniversary was the perfect deadline… So I started just a few weeks before.

Over the next few days and weeks I’ll give you some updates on my progress.

Stay tuned!

Blogging for the First Time

October 6, 2010

Hello Blog World,

Sarah and I have decided to start a blog about our sewing, baking, crafting, cooking or just about anything else we want to share with the blog world.

We haven’t finalized everything about Cut.Bake.Stitch. quite yet, but we’ll get our cadence down quickly!

I hope you’ll join us on this journey.

Yours truly,
